Leila Burrows

Leila Burrows, Founder & General Partner:

Pad Studios Co-Founder, Leila Burrows, began practicing power yoga with Bryan Kest as a  UCLA undergraduate where she graduated with a B.A. in Spanish & Portuguese Languages. In 2008, Leila left Los Angeles-based luxury hotel management group, Viceroy Hotels, to complete her first 200-hour certification through Yoga Works of Santa Monica. From day one, the transformational powers of yoga have inspired Leila to pursue a life practice of health and balance in body and mind. As a student and teacher, Leila combines structure learned from the YogaWorks method with the practical approach of Bryan Kest, infusing her own personality and desire to celebrate and manifest life fully. Since then Leila has taught weekly vinyasa flow classes, lead international retreats in Mexico and Costa Rica, as well as local retreats in California. She regularly brings yoga to to corporate setting for companies including Google, Go Pro, Linked In, Old Navy, etc. Leila is E-RYT 200 certified to lead 200 hour yoga teacher trainings through Embody Truth Teacher Training. And most recently Leila completed the mat and reformer pilates training via Balanced Body. When she is not practicing or teaching at The Pad, she can be found water skiing in the delta, snow skiing in the Sierra, and most often on her family farm where she is now leading local retreats!

While teaching remains a passion, Leila’s main role with largest impact is as the studio’s General Manager. Currently with the help of Studio Manager Britt Peterson, Leila oversees all 30 instructors/independent contractors. She is responsible for program management and development as well as directing all sales and marketing initiatives. She holds close relationships with community partners such as Lululemon, Class Pass, Zen Rez and Yelp. She is as motivated and inspired today as she was 8 years ago to provide a clean, beautiful, high vibe space for her team to work and for the SF community to come practice self care and mindfulness.

Lily graduated from Pepperdine University in 2004 with a degree in Psychology and Nutrition.  Following graduation, she completed her first Pilates teacher training program through The Long Beach Dance Conditioning Studio and started teaching full time.  Lily then completed a second teacher training program through The PhysicalMind Institute.  In 2006, Lily opened her first studio, The Lily Pad, in Malibu.  In 2008, she moved to San Francisco and worked with Co-Founder Leila Burrows to open The Pad Studios in February 2009.

During Lily’s time as operating partner from 2008-2015 she focused on a variety of roles.  She built out the Pilates program and co-wrote a Pilates teacher training program, developed specialized programming, oversaw brand integrity, oversaw all renovations, developed retail, and drove the process of developing an operational manual.  Lily now lives in Marin county, and spends time with her young children, Bella (5) and Henry (1).  While no longer an operating partner, Lily remains a founder and owner and continues to oversee strategic financial planning for The Pad.

Ansley Majit

Ansley was first introduced to Pilates as a young girl by her ballet teacher, but began practicing it regularly many years later after an injury prevented her from her usual forms of exercise. Pilates not only helped her successfully recover from the injury, but also transformed her body in ways she hadn’t been able to do with other methods of exercise. She quickly became a huge proponent of the benefits of the Pilates method and decided to make the shift from a corporate career to teach Pilates full time. Ansley studied Pilates under Master Trainer Larry Hall in San Francisco and joined The Pad Studios as a full time instructor in August 2009.  In September 2010, Ansley joined Lily and Leila as an investor and Operating Partner of The Pad Studios.

During her time as an Operating Partner at The Pad, Ansley worked to develop new programs, managed the Pilates program and co-wrote and developed the Pilates Teacher Training program through which, she successfully trained and mentored over 15 new teachers all of whom have gone on to have successful teaching careers.  Additionally, Ansley oversaw the financial health of the business and worked along side Lily and Leila to ensure that all new and existing programs were operated in a way that supported the positive growth and long-term health of the business.  Ansley now lives in Marin county with her husband and two boys, George (5) and Gus (2).  While no longer an operating partner, Ansley remains an investor and owner and continues to oversee strategic financial planning for The Pad.
