There are many causes for tight hips such as stress, anxiety, desk jobs and even overdoing on a workout! Tight hamstrings limit full hip extension, which rounds the back when we bend forward. In this workshop we will explore the hips and hamstrings with a series of poses designed to gently release the stiffness in the lower body. We will spend time exploring the anatomy of these regions of the body as we use the breath to gently open and lengthen these muscles.</p>
<p>This workshop is open to all levels.</p>
<p>Laurie’s yoga studies began over a decade ago in an attempt to slow down in a fast paced sales lifestyle. As a former gymnast and a lifetime athlete, she came to yoga as form of exercise. Laurie discovered the transformaitonal<img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2013" title="Laurie" src="http://thepadstudios.com/ps/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Laurie.jpg" alt="" /> and healing benefits of yoga and the power of conscious breath. She also realized the teachings of yoga to be beneficial both on and off the mat.</p>

<p>The pace of our everyday power yoga class doesn’t often allow for us to really get<br />
into the nitty gritty of the vinyasa sequence.Join Ellie for this two hour workshop<br />
in which we will zero in on the breath, poses, and transitions that will help your<br />
practice to flow with more intelligence, safety, and ease.</p>
<p>In this workshop we will:<br />
-Briefly explore ujayi breath, the foundational method of breathing in all vinyasa yoga<br />
-Journey through a step-by-step break down of the poses that make up the vinyasa<br />
cycle of a power yoga class (down dog, up dog, plank, chaturanga)<br />
-Discuss the basic principles of transitioning and break down and practice the<br />
common transitions within a vinyasa flow practice:<br />
-jumping back to chaturanga<br />
-hopping forward to forward fold<br />
-chaturanga to upward facing dog<br />
-upward dog to downward facing dog</p>
<p>Finally, we will put it all together in a fun, challenging flow that will allow you<br />
to integrate and solidify what you have learned into your everyday practice.</p>
<p>This workshop is suitable for both beginners and seasoned practitioners looking to<br />
deepen and refine their understanding of the elements of the vinyasa sequence.</p>
