This intensive will introduce the six philosophical schools of India, called darśana-s, that include both yoga philosophy (which was codified in the Yogasūtra of Patañjali) and advaita vedanta (which evolved into modern-day Hinduism). We will primarily focus on an introduction to yoga philosophy as a means to help us reduce our experience of suffering and feel better in every day life, while also exploring the differences between yoga philosophy and Hinduism, and how these two distinct philosophical systems have become confused and enmeshed over time.
It is appropriate for yoga enthusiasts of all levels and will include both lecture and discussion.
